Ace Handyman Services opens in Carmel • Current Publishing

Vinay Iyer has always had an interest in home improvement and wanted to own his business.

Iyer found the perfect solution for Ace Handyman Services.

“I’m pretty handy and I’ve always wanted to start a small business in the area,” said Iyer, who opened his Carmel office on February 1.

Iyer was sold due to the fact that the franchise is affiliated with Ace Hardware.

“If you’ve ever been to an Ace Hardware Store, it’s a fantastic culture,” said Iyer. “You are always welcome. Ace Handyman’s services share the same culture and brand name. “

Iyers Service covers all of Hamilton County.

“This is a home improvement, repair and maintenance service,” said Iyer, who has five employees: four craftsmen and an office manager.

“We’re getting referrals from Ace Hardware Stores in the area,” said Iyer. “We have a complete digital platform that we use to reach our customers through our website and Facebook.”

As a mechanical engineer, Iyer worked for Cummins in Columbus, Ind. For 11 years.

“I’m a diesel engineer by profession,” he said.

Iyer has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Mysore in India. He came to the United States to work for an Indian company with General Electric affiliations, Tata Consultancy Services, in Schenectady, NY

“I’ve always wanted to work with engines,” he said. “I’ve always been a transmission interested in motorcycles, automobiles, and diesel engines, so I decided to do a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University, one of the top diesel engine programs.”

Iyer, who received a Masters of Business Administration from Arizona State University at the time, has lived in Indiana since 2000, including the last six years in Carmel.

“I have 22 years of corporate engineering, sales and marketing experience,” he said.
