Ace Hardware Acquires Handyman Matters

Ace Hardware has completed the acquisition of Handyman Matters, a Denver repair, maintenance and improvement franchisor. Handyman Matters becomes Ace Handyman Services and acts as a new independent subsidiary of Ace Hardware Corp.

Handyman Matters is a franchise organization made up of local and operated and company-owned locations that, in addition to larger projects, also offer professional and versatile craftsmen and women trained in managing a homeowner’s to-do list. On-site consumer and small business services include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, flooring, and more.

“The introduction of Ace Handyman Services provides a platform from which Ace can continue to deliver on our promise to help consumers while expanding our presence in the growing do-it-for-me segment,” said John Venhuizen, President and CEO of Ace hardware. “This acquisition combines a proven franchise system for home repair and maintenance with Ace’s trusted brand and service. Increasing support for existing franchisees while aggressively recruiting is part of a compelling evolution of our plan for strategic growth and the continued success of our retailers. “

Andy Bell, Founder and CEO of Handyman Matters, will continue to lead Ace Handyman Services from its Denver headquarters. Integration and rebranding initiatives are currently underway, the completion of which is targeted in the first quarter of 2020.
