Flynn suggests that Trump use the military in “swing states” to re-enact electoral and soft-pedal martial law

Former National Security Advisor Michal Flynn once again tiptoed to urge President Trump to declare martial law to overthrow President-elect Joe Biden’s victory, citing discredited election fraud allegations. Trump “could immediately seize every single one of these voting machines on his orders,” Flynn told Greg Kelly, the host of Newsmax, on Thursday evening. “He could order military capabilities to be assumed within the swing states if he wanted, and he could place them in states and basically repeat an election in each of those states.” Using the US military to force states to repeat an election is “not unprecedented,” added Flynn. “These people out there are talking about martial law like we’ve never done it. Martial law has been introduced 64 times, Greg. So I’m not asking that. We have a constitutional process,” and “this has to follow.”> This is Michael Flynn on Newsmax, who says Trump could order “military capabilities” to swing states and “re-elect any of those states”. >> “People out there talk about martial law like it’s something we’ve never done before. Since then, Supreme Court precedents and various laws – most notably the Posse Comitatus Act – have severely constrained the president’s ability to declare martial law. “There’s nothing to see here,” tweeted Will Saletan of Slate. “Just a retired general and former undeclared foreign agent for an authoritarian regime, freshly apologized by the president for lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia and setting martial law precedents to undo the president’s electoral defeat. ” Former President Barack Obama fired Flynn as the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency “then tried to warn Trump about him,” noted Maggie Haberbman, a reporter for the New York Times. “Trump hired him, fired him, complained about him and his son during the transition, and then obviously changed course.” Tim Miller of the Bulwark added, “Michael Flynn, who lied to the FBI, was the biggest break the nation had during the Trump years. The thought of the madman in the room when Trump made decisions is terrifying.” More Stories From theweek.com 5 Insanely Funny Cartoons About Trump’s Election Fraud Failure Trump reportedly convinced he actually won and advises advisors not to leave the White House.
