Building relationships key to handyman service
Six years after starting The Little Guy’z Craftsman Service, Dominick Coviello has teamed up with like-minded friends to expand its reach and tackle larger projects in more areas of Sussex County.
“I love what I do,” said Coviello. “I do my best and as long as the customers are satisfied, I am happy.”
A lot of his clients need something fixed, like a siding that came from the house and the bigger company doesn’t want to take over because it’s a small job, Coviello said. He said he would try to answer calls within 24 hours.
“If you can’t show up, don’t tell anyone you’re coming,” he said.
In addition to minor repairs, The Little Guy’z installs windows, doors, decks, and additions, and provides light landscaping without cutting grass. Other jobs include painting, power washing, plumbing, electrical, bathroom remodeling, pavement and driveway work, and repairs.
“We just don’t do any heating or air conditioning work,” Coviello said. “If a customer finds something wrong, I want them to contact me immediately so that I can fix it and get them free of their worries.”
Previously serving clients in Lewes, Rehoboth and Dewey, The Little Guy’z has expanded its reach to Fenwick Island, Ocean View, Milton and Milford by working with two other companies to provide reliable service and complete larger projects said Coviello.
“They have the same standards and the same motto as me – show yourself and do a quality job at a fair price,” said Coviello.
Originally from the Little Italy neighborhood of Wilmington, Coviello made the Cape region his home 20 years ago. He worked in construction for most of his life.
“I’ve always loved fixing things, taking apart and putting things back together,” he said.
The best parts of his job, Coviello said, are the people he meets and the bonds he makes with customers. Many long-time customers have become like family members, Coviello said, noting that he was attending the funeral of a customer whose relatives thanked him for the work and camaraderie he provided her.
“It’s about building a relationship, not just doing a job,” Coviello said. “Relationship is key and honesty is the best policy.”
