Gary Lee Stevenson Sr., great handyman

“Some people come into our lives as blessings. Some come into your life as lessons. ” – Mother Teresa

Gary Lee Stevenson Sr., 55, of Marshallton died on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, peacefully surrounded by his brothers. Gary was in the care of his brother David and sister-in-law Esther in Dewey Beach’s death in his day. Gary was the son of the late John S. and Mildred M. (Pennington) Stevenson.

Gary was with Ralph Moffet Heating & Air Conditioning for 12 years, working with Asbestos Workers Local 42 in the footsteps of his father and brothers. Gary was a friendly guy and a great handyman – he could fix anything. He spent a lot of time with his friend and mentor Bob McDannell, helping him with all of the projects around Bob’s house. Bob and Phyllis McDannell have been a constant in Gary’s life, and we thank them for being there when Gary needed them most.

Gary is survived by his son Gary Lee Jr. and the mother of his son Connie Lawson; his brothers: Jack (Linda) and David (Esther); his sisters: Sandra Nowakowski (Ted), Nancy; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Joey Recinski and Jimmy Hailstone for their lifelong friendship, and sincerely thank Karen James for providing a wonderful medical appointment and treatment support system in Gary’s time of need. Marshallton United Methodist Church for your reach and assistance when it is most needed; and Delaware Hospice for your compassion and care in the end.

All services will be private. The Parsell Funeral Homes and the crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, were entrusted with the organization.

Commemorative donations may be made to the Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, in memory of Mr. Stevenson.
