Handyman left Welney family’s bathroom in ‘shocking’ state

Family members are desperate to track down the handyman who billed £ 500 on “really awful” tiles for their older parents.

The “worker” has ignored requests to come back and explain his reasons for leaving his parents’ bathroom in such a condition.

“He didn’t use tile adhesive. He only used four dabs of something sticky and literally just hit the tiles on the wall, ”said Kate Hanley-Ginger.

“It was just absolutely terrible; None of the tiles were straight and they weren’t even taped properly.

“He used floor tile separators on the wall, and because of that, they were too big to stick out.

“There was no way I could ever wipe the surface of the tile without getting caught on the sharp pieces of plastic.”

Kate paid Shaun Andrews of SA Property Solutions to tile the bathroom of her converted outbuilding in Welney for her elderly mother and father-in-law.

Ms. Hanley-Ginger and her husband moved to the March Road house last October to live with Scott’s parents.

A full two story remodel is being done by a separate company that was unable to do the additional tiling work.

This work was offered to Mr. Andrews at SA Property Solutions.

When they saw him leave work, Scott’s father called the dealer, but the phone kept ringing.

The family left several voicemails and text messages to contact.

Mr Andrews says “no job too small” on a promotional flyer and says his expertise includes painting, decorating, tiling, plastering and more.

The eye-catching flyer was what originally caught the attention of Ms. Hanley-Ginger, who was recommended to Mr. Andrews on social media: the original post has since been deleted.

She said the prime contractors looked at the tiles and asked, “What the hell happened here?” They touched some tiles and just fell off the wall.

“You can imagine that all the tiles would have collapsed if it had stayed the way it was. Once the shower cubicle was attached to the walls.

“Shaun just completely ignores me and my family. I even tried calling from another phone, but it’s still exactly the same, he just doesn’t answer.”

Ms. Hanley-Ginger has nothing but praise for prime contractor SNS Property Services for helping the family after initially being unable to finish the tiles.

“They pulled out all the stops to fix it for us. They had to pack parts into the walls that were damaged and buy a whole new set of tiles.”

The whole ordeal cost the little family over £ 1,000 in new parts, labor, and the original £ 500 paid to Shaun Andrews that has not yet been returned.

“It’s like we’re going to have to do the whole job all over again, but if we start with a really terrible blank canvas instead of a nice flat one, it’s going to be a really bad phase.

“We moved here to improve the quality of life so we could spend more time with and care for Scott’s parents, and we recently had a baby girl.

“So, grandparents to have them [our daughter], pretty much next door, should be a really exciting, fun time for her to convert something.

“Well because [Shaun] came, he ruined and tarnished it and it took away a lot of the excitement of the whole process.

“I just can’t believe he did it. I am really shocked. ”

We tried asking Shaun Andrews at SA Property Solutions for a comment. We tried to contact us by phone and he has not yet responded via text message.
