London Luxury Apartment Features Jaw-Dropping Home Theater, Bowling Alley and Billiards Room

The crucial point with this installation was to make the operation as easy as possible. Therefore, AONYX used Triad Platinum series ceiling speakers to hide where the audio in the home theater was coming from and to work well with the Control4 automation system.

In a new luxury apartment building on the Thames in the city center of London, the individual interior design, the first-class location and the extravagant amenities ensure a high-end experience for wealthy private individuals. With apartment prices up to £ 7.8m, it’s no surprise that the owners have upgraded the building with a Control4 powered entertainment area that includes an exquisite 18-seat cinema, bowling alley and billiards room.

According to Richard Reid, managing director of the customer-specific integration company AONYX, the developer of the building knew early on that customers of this size need a catering experience in addition to luxurious residences. Hence, it was crucial for them to include high-end versions of fun activities to differentiate themselves from other buildings and attract potential buyers.

“The upper end of the London housing market is in an arms race to provide high net worth individuals with bespoke living experiences, and key amenities like this incredible movie theater make a statement to potential buyers,” Reid said.

“Every detail counts here, from color-coordinated, individually painted grilles for the ceiling speakers in the Triad Platinum series to the hand-made projector housing. But the most important thing is that the room and the system are always reliable and easy to use. That is why we installed Control4 over other automation and media distribution systems. “

Billiards and bowling provide entertainment

The luxury apartment building has a full-length 10-pole bowling alley.

AONYX knew that the best solution for the theater and entertainment space was simple, intuitive and expandable. To do this, the team chose a Control4 system based on features like their system’s user interface on mobile devices or a Control4 remote control. Employees can quickly and easily set up or shut down the entire entertainment area, select movies or music, and adjust the volume for each independent area. The theater, the bowling alley and the billiards room each have hidden triad loudspeakers in the walls and ceilings in order to fulfill all the wishes of the audio residents via the Control4 multi-room audio system. Each room can play the same music or use different sources for multiple groups.

In addition to the painted ceiling speakers, AONYX also installed acoustic treatments and triad wall-mounted speakers behind the cloth walls of the theater and behind the screen itself to provide a commercial surround sound experience for every seat. Kaleidescape players in each room offer a custom selection of titles chosen by the property management company, while Apple TVs allow residents to bring their own content or connect to subscription streaming services.

“In such buildings it should be ensured that the residents can live carefree and do not have to grapple with details or procedures of the building functions”, says Oliver Benson, operations manager at AONYX. “The hidden technology in these rooms offers an invisible experience that has all the benefits of cutting edge technology without a headache. The property managers even plan to offer new screenings and private events, and possibly offer the space for bookings to outside parties. “

The billiards room and the bowling alley also have televisions that receive video signals via the Control4 system. Each display can play its own content or share a video stream with the other areas. This flexible system allows larger groups to share all of the entertainment options, or separate groups to use separate rooms at the same time. Residents can book the theater and other rooms through a digital reservation system. As it is an entertainment area in the basement, AONYX has improved the wireless networking of the room with professional Pakedge devices, so that enough bandwidth is available for dozens of guests and the AV system.

“Using the latest technology and the finest finishes, we help design and incorporate world-class amenities to please the upper class homeowner,” said Reid. “With Control 4 and Triad, we can bring commercial movie magic into private spaces in a way that is intuitive, expandable, and able to blend in with any aesthetic.”
