Powell River contractor adds appliance repair

ProFlame Contracting, Powell River’s one-stop-shop for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, known for world class work and customer satisfaction, has expanded and branched out into its services.

For many years, ProFlame has offered a wide range of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for residential and commercial applications, including repairs to existing systems, upgrades and new installations.

“We do everything from cooling to heat recovery ventilation systems,” says Keith Brown, owner of ProFlame.

ProFlame is now expanding its services for homeowners who want to replace old heating and hot water storage systems with highly efficient natural gas appliances. The company also deals with home appliance repair, says Keith.

“Call us before you replace a broken washer or dryer,” he says. “Our skilled technicians will take a look at your device and diagnose the problem to see if it can be fixed. That could save you a lot of money. “

ProFlame is the local distributor for some of the most trusted and established brands in home heating and cooling. ProFlame sells, installs and services Regency chimneys, Lennox stoves, IBC kettles and Rinnai water heaters without a tank.

ProFlame is currently renovating its store and offering its customers a showroom where they can see their products and how they work firsthand.

“We plan to put 12 Regency chimneys on the wall of the showroom for our customers to see,” says Keith. “We are installing an IBC boiler with floor and ceiling spotlights to heat the shop, the showroom and our offices.”

With no Powell River Home and Garden Show planned for this year, ProFlame plans to bring a taste of the Home Show to its new showroom.

“We’re planning a week-long open house,” says Keith. “It will give the public the opportunity to drop by the store and visit our showroom and learn more about how easy and beautiful it is to install a Regency fireplace in their homes.”

A Regency representative is available to answer customer questions.

“It will be like bringing the home show to our showroom,” adds Keith.

The ProFlame team is closely linked. Keith and Roberto Ius have worked hard over the past few months to find the right group of skilled artisans to shape the future of the company, says Keith. The company employs a team of five gas fitters, two refrigeration specialists and two trainees. The team consists of Ius, Jeff Tucker, Casey Jantz and Mike Berghauser, John Gavigan, Dieter McIntosh, Chris Dalzell and Hunter Findlater. Leslie Ius is the company’s administrative assistant. Sharon Brown is a co-owner and supports Keith in his daily decisions.

Keith takes pride in continuously developing his team to ensure they have the most up-to-date information.

“The training is enormous for us,” he says.

After the store renovations are complete, ProFlame plans to bring trainers from FortisBC, Lennox, Regency Fireplaces and IBC Boilers to Powell River this spring for in-house training.

“We are very careful about our work to make sure it is done properly and safely,” says Roberto.

ProFlame also installs and maintains special cooling systems such as those found on boats and in commercial kitchens.

“We think outside the box and make sure that things always work in one way or another,” says Roberto.

One service that is often overlooked is the maintenance and flushing of the boiler, says Keith.

Radiant floor systems and baseboard or wall mounted radiators are becoming increasingly popular to efficiently heat homes, Keith adds. One thing that is often overlooked about these boiler systems, even if they’re relatively new, is that they need to be flushed regularly and the pH of the water needs to be balanced to keep the shift working, he says.

“We can use an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature of your radiator and floor before we wash,” explains Keith. “After rinsing, we measure the temperature again. If the water was dirty, you are guaranteed to see a temperature.” positive difference in the amount of heat generated. “
